Henry Petersen, born Jan. 7, 1929 in Brooklyn, NY passed away March 11, 2017.
He enlisted in 82nc Abn. on Oct. 17, 1946 at age 17. He completed basic training at Ft. Bragg, Co. B, 42nd Bn., 4th Regt., RTC on December 7, 1946. He was sent to Germany in February of 1947 and attended US Constabulary School in Sonthofen, Bavaria, Class #13 in May 1947. He was then assigned to A Trp., 11th Constab. Sqdn., and 27th A Trp. Constab. Sqdn. stationed in Limburg, Darmstat, Weisbaden, border patrol and transferred to HQ & HQ Co., 14th Armd. Cav. (S-3 schools and training) in December of 1947 in Fritzlar, Germany and served there until September 1950. He was held in service for convenience of government for the Korean Conflict. He returned to the States on the USNS Henry Gibbins in October of 1950 and was assigned to Ft. Riley, KS, HQ Det. #1, 5021 ASU Publications before receiving his Honorable Discharge in October of 1951. Henry was awarded the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal (Germany). Upon discharge, he worked for 20th Century Fox in New York City and attended Heffley Brown and New York University under the GI Bill, graduating with an AAS degree and served as a court reporter in the district attorney’s office in Staten Island, NY. He joined the New York Central Railroad in January 1956 in sales and marketing before retiring as Manager with Conrail in 1989 after 33 year of RR service. He relocated to NC upon his retirement, where he was involved with the Western Carolinas Association, Masonic Temple #387-Hendersonville, Oasis Temple-Charlotte as a 32nd degree Master Mason, Scottish Rite-Asheville, VFW Post #5206, American Legion #77-Hendersonville, US Constabulary Association, and the National Treasurer US Constabulary Association.

He leaves behind his wife, Olga Hruskova Petersen and daughter, Evelyn Petersen.
