Gussie Capps, 87, of College Walk in Brevard, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 in the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville. She was a native of Henderson County and the daughter of the late Lannie and Cheva Ward Bayne. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Burgon Capps who passed away in 2004; her son, Tony Capps; and three sisters.
Gussie was a graduate of Flat Rock High School. She and her husband owned a trucking company and brokerage for over thirty years. She was a very hard worker, helping to build a business with her husband. She loved her family greatly and cherished the time she was able to spend with them, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.
Gussie is survived by her daughters, Carol Case (Mark), Gwyn Ross (Harold); four grandchildren, Jeremy Gibbs (Elizabeth), Erin Gibbs, Kaitlynn Ross, Suzanne DeWitt (Kyle); four great-grandchildren, Burgon and Isabella Gibbs and Nathaniel and Alyson DeWitt.
A graveside service will be at 11am Saturday, July 14, 2018 in Forest Lawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Steve Jones officiating.
