Betty Allen Gonce

Died: October 18, 2017

Betty Allen Gonce, 76, of Mills River, passed away at home surrounded by her family, Wednesday, October 18, 2017.

She was the daughter of the late Frances and Burlin Allen of Pisgah Forest and was also preceded in death by her son, Stacey Gonce.

It is widely known that her servant heart led her to help raise dozens of other children around the community. The Gonce household is a community gathering place and all who stopped in quickly grew to love and revere her. From this point forward, there will be a void along the Longview straight in Mills River.

Betty was married to Edward Gonce for over 55 years and was an extraordinarily devoted wife and mother. She is also survived by her sons, Shanon Gonce and wife Barbara, Stony Gonce and wife Denise; daughter, Susie Wheatley; she loved her seven grandchildren, Zack, Tasha, Vana, Tyler, Madi, Vinny and Bella; and five great-grandchildren.

Everyone is welcome to join a celebration of Betty’s life at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 22, 2017 in the chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Ball officiating. Burial will follow the service in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12-2:00 PM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731.
