Charles A. King, 89, of Hendersonville, passed away Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Solace Center in Asheville, NC.
Born in Henderson County, he was the son of the late Albert and Dorothy Jackson King. He was also preceded in death by his brothers Kenneth, Calvin and Curtis King.

Charlie retired from Biltmore Dairy Farms and Sunbeam Breads. He continued employment as the “Sandwich Man” for Ward’s Sandwiches and was also an active member of the Henderson County Curb Market for many years until his official retirement at age 84.
Charlie was a devoted Christian who radiated love to all he met. He loved to work in his garden, watch his birds and be surrounded by his family who were the love of his life.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Gladys Wilson King. In addition to his wife, Charlie is survived by sons Doyle (Stephanie) King, Arlen King, and Chris (Pam) King all of Hendersonville and daughter, Kathy King of Asheville; eleven grandchildren, five great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Surviving siblings are sister, Ruby Tyner of Bishopville, SC and brothers Ralph (Lucy) King and Don (Judy) King of Hendersonville and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in the Chapel of Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Pastors Brent Thomas and Jeff Neelands officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 PM prior to the service.
